Roxanna returned to NDS in July 2006, after six years as the director of compliance and a deputy capital defender at the Capital Defender Office. In the course of her career, Roxanna has supervised criminal and juvenile defense lawyers and legal staff. She fulfilled those responsibilities at both the Legal Aid Society’s Juvenile Rights Division and here at NDS. Roxanna was also the assistant director of the Center for Public Interest Law at Columbia Law School. Roxanna also worked at Rogers & Wells in the litigation department and Phillips Nizer LLP in the matrimonial department. In addition to serving clients at NDS, Roxanna trains new generations of attorneys as an adjunct associate professor at Fordham University School of Law. She teaches Fundamental Lawyering Skills, covering topics such as negotiation, counseling, and interviewing.
Roxanna was awarded the Livingston Hall Juvenile Justice Award from the American Bar Association (1998). She is a former member of the Juvenile Justice Committee and Matrimonial Law Committee of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, Juvenile Justice Coalition of The Correctional Association, and the Defender Policy Group of the National Legal Aid and Defender Association.
Roxanna received her BA from Williams College in 1984, and her JD from Georgetown University Law Center in 1989.
