Benefits Overview

  1. Medical Insurance:

NDS offers two medical plans through Cigna, an EPO (base plan) and a PPO (buy up plan).

Eligibility: The first day of employment. Medical insurance is available to all regular employees (and their dependents) who work over 20 hours per week.

Base Plan – NDS pays 100% of the premium for eligible employees and their dependents. There are no out of network benefits provided on the base plan.

Buy up Plan – The cost for the PPO plan is as follows:

Single: $87.39 per month

Employee/spouse: $174.82 per month

Employee/Child(ren): $148.59 per month

Family: $249.11 per month

2. Dental Insurance:

Dental insurance is offered to employees and their dependents through Guardian at no cost to the employee.

Eligibility: The first day of employment. Dental insurance is available to all regular employees (and their dependents) who work over 20 hours per week.

3. Vision Insurance:

Vision insurance is available through EyeMed. Employees pay the full cost for vision coverage, as follows:

Single: $12.28 per month

Employee/Spouse: $23.28 per month

Employee/Child(ren): $24.51 per month

Family: $36.01 per month

Eligibility: The first day of employment. Vision insurance is available to all regular employees (and their dependents) who work over 20 hours per week.

4. Life/AD&D Insurance:

Life and AD&D insurance are available at no cost to the employee through UNUM.

Eligibility: The first of the month after 90 days of employment. This insurance is available to regular employees who work more than 20 hours per week.

Life Insurance: 3 times annual earnings up to $525,000

AD&D maximum: 3 times annual earnings up to $500,000

5. Short term, Long Term Disability Insurance:

Short and long-term disability insurance are available at no cost to the employee through UNUM.

Eligibility: The first of the month after 90 days of employment. Available to regular employees who work more than 20 hours per week.

Elimination periods:

Short Term Disability:             0 days for disability due to injury

7 days for disability due to sickness

Benefit: 66.66% of weekly earnings up to a max. of $1,000 per week

Long Term Disability:              180 days

Benefit: 60% of monthly earnings up to a max. of $5,000 per month

6. Retirement Plan:

The first day of hire, eligible employees will receive a contribution from NDS into the 403(b) plan with Vanguard. Employer contributions are dependent upon the employee making a contribution. Employee’s can also contribute to a Roth account (post-tax).

An employee who contributes:

  • Defer 0% of your own money and you will receive a 2% Employer Contribution
  • Defer 1% of your own money and you will receive a 3% Employer Contribution
  • Defer 2% of your own money and you will receive a 4% Employer Contribution
  • Defer 3% of your own money and you will receive a 5% Employer Contribution

The employer contribution is 100% the employees after 3 full years of employment. Departure from NDS before the third year of employment will result in the forfeiture of the NDS contribution.

7. Paid Time Off:

Vacation time:                   Full-time, non-exempt employees accrue 15 days each year for the first two years of employment and 20 days per year thereafter.

Full-time, exempt employees accrue 20 days during their first year and 25 days thereafter.

Attorneys accrue 22 days during the first year of employment and 27 days thereafter.

All employees may accrue up to 245 hours.

 

Sick time:                             Full-time employees accrue 13 days per year. Part-time employees are pro-rated.

Employees may accrue up to 210 hours.

Personal time:                   All full-time, non-attorney employees receive 2 personal days per anniversary year. Part-time employees do not receive personal time.

Personal days do not carry over from one year to the next.

Holidays:                              There are typically 13 paid Holidays per year. NDS follows the Court Holiday Calendar.

Parental Leave:                 After one (1) year of service with NDS, any parent of a newborn or newly-adopted child/children who reside with the employee are eligible for paid time off due to parental or adoptive leave to care for and establish a relationship with the child/children and may take up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave which shall be in conjunction with FMLA.

  1. Pay Dates – NDS employees are paid on a bi-weekly basis. Pay day is every other Friday. Direct deposit is available.
